Spreading cheer for all to hear
Here at Team Sports Planet, we love hearing from teams all year around about their efforts to help less fortunate individuals in their communities.
But during this magical time of the year especially, it really warms our hearts to hear about teams we’ve outfitted selflessly engaging in good deeds, and truly making a difference.
Teams that made the nice list
Here are a few of our teams who have shown us how they are making a difference in the community by giving back this holiday season by spreading cheer.
Our first team was submitted to us by Alicia Grooms, coach of Flamez Fastpitch. They’re a 10U travel team out of Knoxville, TN and surrounding areas.
She says “This year we gave back by doing multiple things for the holidays and our most excited project was collecting Christmas toys for a local single mom with small children. I am blessed to say our team provided in the greatest way. Thank you for the time to seek this type of work being done off the field. Softball is truly about more than just the game.”
We couldn’t agree more, Alicia!
Next up is Tri-State Assault Youth Basketball and Cheer
James Daniels, the league’s President, writes in explaining that “This season we plan on helping out a local organization here in Huntington, WV called Lily’s Place. Lily’s Place is a shelter for drug addicted babies who need items for babies as their placed within the organization itself. We plan on doing a drive with our league to take in any and all brand new baby items for these children. We will begin our drive on the first week of December and will be visiting the organization a few days before Christmas. This same organization was recently visited by our president Mr. Donald Trump’s wife Melania Trump a few weeks ago and we see the need to reach out and help them as well.”

And here we have the LA braves
The team that had inspired our series of Feel Good blogs. Joey Caillier, coach of the LA Braves, out of Breaux Bridge LA, called us back in early November explaining they were participating in a Toys for Tots baseball tournament and needed new jerseys for the special event.
And that’s what made us wonder, what other sincerely wonderful things are our teams doing to prepare for the season of giving back?
With our inboxes flooded with good deed, after good deed, it’s no surprise to us that teamwork is alive and well. And it makes us feel good to know that our teams’ coaches, parents and volunteers are taking the opportunity to teach their players what it truly means to be a team.
